Please join us for our Third Annual Event for an evening of great music, food, and auctions to benefit brain tumor patients and their families here in the Lehigh Valley. 

 

With your help we raised $7000 at last year's event and hope to surpass that amount this year with your continued support.

 

As always, this fundraiser is dedicated to the loving memory of Dennis J. Kacmar.  Dennis was diagnosed in 2006 with a glioblastoma - a malignant brain tumor - and passed away in 2008.

 

Although born in Pennsylvania, Dennis was the quintessential "California Beach Bum".  A great day for Dennis would be cruising around Santa Cruz in a woodie, heading to the local beach shack for "real" fish tacos, hanging with the locals at the surf shop, or simply spending the day at the beach.

 

Hand-in-hand with his love of his Woodie cars were his Hawaiian collectibles associated with the beach culture.  In that ALOHA spirit,  we chose LUAU NITE as the theme for this year's fundraiser. 

 

While the event is always a fun-filled evening, the focus of this fundraiser is the serious business of helping brain tumor patients and their famlies. 

 

To say that being diagnosed with a brain tumor is a life-altering event is an understatement.  In most instances, adults with a life-threatening brain tumor lose their ability to maintain employment.

 

In situations such as those he or she may be the primary wage earner.  Not only do they lose their source of income, they may lose their health insurance coverage as well unless they have the resources to continue coverage through COBRA.  In many cases, their spouses or partners become their full-time caregivers.  The emotional and financial toll is overwhelming. 

 

Our goal and hope is to help alleviate their financial stress by raising funds to help cover medically related and day-to-day living expenses not covered by health insurance.

All funds raised will be donated to the Lehigh Valley Health Network's Neurosciences Fund with proceeds specifically earmarked to assist brain tumor  patients and their families.  As of February 2014 the fund has so far assisted two families in covering their heating costs and drug costs.  We would not have been able to help these families without your assistance.
